Phillies say f–k everybody ‘and always the Mets’ after ousting Braves in NLDS

Even after a 75-87 season, the Mets are still on the mind of the Philadelphia Phillies as they cruise through the playoffs.

“F–k the Bravos, and whoever the f–k we play next, and always the Mets,” a group of Phillies players, led by backup catcher Garrett Stubbs, chanted in their clubhouse while celebrating another NLDS upset win over the Atlanta Braves.

The phrase started off promising, with the Mets and Phillies likely willing to agree that the Braves are far from allies.

But the Phillies had to declare war on the Mets as well, who are likely just enjoying their offseason and watching the playoffs from the couch after a disappointing season.

The Mets-Phillies rivalry may not be as good as Braves-Phillies, but it’s still a fun NL East grudge match.

The beef between the Braves and Phillies has been ongoing since last season when the Phillies eliminated them, but really hit a fever pitch in the last few days when backup infielder Orlando Arcia mocked star slugger Bryce Harper.

The media caught this one, importantly “on the record” after media pundits jockeyed back and forth over the validity of the report of Arcia sarcastically saying: “Atta Boy, Harper.”

Harper then mashed two home runs in Game 3 and stared Arcia down afterward in a 10-2 rout. Arcia then lashed out at fans Thursday.

As for the ring leader, Stubbs is a career .220 hitter and is in his second year with the Phillies after spending three seasons with the Astros.

He is known best for his overalls, which he has been wearing since the summer and have gained massive amounts of popularity throughout the Philadelphia area among fans and teammates.

Atlanta put up a mostly pathetic showing in a four-game series loss to the Phillies, which saw reliever Matt Strahm strike out Vaughn Grissom to end the game with the tying run on base.
